Give Some In a Day For Yourself
In today's world, where the pace of our lives is literally a race against time, how much time do we spare for ourselves, for our body, to know our self? If we don't, it is high time, we start taking time out for this simple yet very profound task. And a very simple way is through Yoga. So what is Yoga?
Yoga is the reunion of the body, mind and soul. Many of us have a false notion that Yoga is just the asanas (postures). But in reality, it includes asanas but it is not solely that. The purpose of yoga is take us from activity to stillness. So asanas are a part of activity which eventually lead us into stillness. It is only in stillness, that we can experience our Self. In Yoga Sutras, Maharishi Patanjali says that the purpose of yoga is to stop misery from befalling you. So how is that achieved? Through the activity, we get rid of the extra Rajas in our body, and when that is gone, we are ready to dive deep into ourselves. A few minutes of meditation after that brings stillness in us. When the stillness is achieved, thoughtlessness is achieved.
Maharishi Patanjali says “Nirvachara vaisharadye adhyatma prasadaha” , which means the experience of the state of thoughtlessness, being in the undisturbed state of hollow and empty, spiritually brings the grace of the being. And at this stage, we are in union with our self, which is ever pure and untouched. Sorrow disappears when we come in touch with our Self.
So a brilliant way to start with Yoga is a few postures and then Surya Namaskars, which are a beautiful set of 12 postures, which brings harmony between our body and breath. Doing just postures, will help only on physical level. But to get to that infinite bliss, the breath is the key. With each posture, corresponding breath plays an important role. In other words, every motion in the posture, has to have a particular type of breath with it. Generally when we do a posture which involves us going up from the ground, we breathe in and when we go towards the ground, we breathe out. This is one simple rule we follow.
After a few sets of Surya Namaskar, 15-20 minutes of meditation everyday will help in this. Also, some of us must have observed that if we start directly with meditation, thoughts may wander around. So few minutes of yoga, helps in bringing the calmness in mind.
So what are you waiting for? Very simple. few minutes every day for yourself, and you will see the difference in yourself, your productivity will also shoot up.

No time to do yoga ???
Are you crazy busy? Is there hardly a moment to catch a breath? Is your significance tied to how much you work and how much you accomplish?
We must retrain ourselves to be, not just to do; to live, not just work. It can take time and awareness to rewire yourself, but it’s not an impossible task — and you can make a significant headway with 15-30 minutes of daily yoga practice.
The best advice I can give you is to make yoga a part of your morning ritual. This means going to bed 15 minutes earlier so your yoga practice doesn’t cut into your sleep time. One of the most significant ways to support your home practice is to practice with a member of your family or a friend. Being held accountable by others can get you to the mat on the dreariest of days. Once you get to the mat, the magic often takes over after a couple of minutes and you find yourself vibrating with the music of yoga.
Practicing yoga in the morning is generally considered to be the best as it keeps energy levels high during the day. Yet, if it doesn’t happen, don’t let it be an excuse to skip your practice. You may choose a time slot which seems most convenient. It could be late mornings, before lunch, or evenings. Yoga at these times can also be a good way to refresh the mind and release stress collected during the day.
When you practice alone, it might get boring after a while or you may simply become lazy. Try doing it with family or friends and see the difference! Yoga can be a great way for a family get-together. Learn more about how you can enrich your family time with yoga.
